It was such an exciting thrill to have recently photographed David’s surprise marriage proposal to Erika at Charleston’s Waterfront Park Pineapple Fountain! The two are so in love and such a perfect couple, which made it even easier for Valerie & Co. Photographers to capture romantically sweet images of the pair’s special moment. :-) The proposal location David setteled on is one we love and is a top spot to visit for tourist and locals alike. David had originally thought he’d pop the big question over dinner at the delicious restaurant, 82 Queen. However, after a few change of plans with Erika’s schedule, David rearrange the surprise proposal, and he and Erika took a little downtown evening stroll after work to the Pineapple Fountain. That was the spot where we waited to snap the sneaky pictures of this perfect proposal!
We cannot stop swooning over this couple's Charleston Waterfront Park surprise proposal photos! Lindsay and Sam's story is just as sweet as the love, joy, and happiness you can see all over Lindsay's face in these pictures. :-) AND THE RING… there just aren’t words to describe how beautiful and precious it is! Read all about Sam and Lindsay, their love story, and the answers they gave to a few of our questions.
Where are you both from?
We are both from South Florida- specifically, Sam is from Cooper City and I am from South Miami.
Where did you two meet?
We were introduced by a mutual friend- my sorority sister at Boston University and Sam's good friend from high school- her name is Ashley. She used to have the biggest crush on Sam and when he showed interest in me, she figured she'd assist in matchmaking!
How long were you dating before engagement?
We went on our first date December 26th 2013; we say April 4th 2014 is our anniversary (not exactly sure why but it was a turning point in our relationship and felt right to say that was the date- it was also when Sam said i love you for the first time. Anywho- a little shy of 3 years if we go by anniversary. =)
What is your proposal story?
It was my 26th birthday so Sam had told me we were going on a horse and buggy ride around Charleston to enjoy some of the historic sites. It was our first time visiting so we had a lot to pack in for the weekend.
We boarded our carriage ride, took some photos with the horse, and were off on our tour. Taking in all the sites, the driver stopped about 20-minutes into our ride in front of a pretty fountain by the water. Sam held my hand, told me that it was our stop, and we started walking down a beautiful pathway lined with trees. There was an electric energy in the way Sam held my hand, I knew something was going on but couldn't put my finger on what. Sam began to talk about our first months of dating and when he knew I was the one and I was on cloud 9 with emotions. Next thing I knew, Sam was getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him. The answer was pretty obvious! I mean especially after the most magical proposal! =)
What kind of engagement ring do you have and is there a story to go with it?
I have a round engagement ring with a pave diamond band. The stone is actually from Sam's mother- it was her mother's ring
It's absolutely gorgeous and I love wearing it...AND cleaning it!
When is your wedding?
Our wedding will be late winter/early spring of 2018 in Miami, FL
It was an honor and a delight for Valerie & Co. Photographers to capture Lindsay and Sam’s wonderful Charleston Waterfront Park Proposal. Congratulations to the happy couple!
What we do here at Valerie & Co. Photographers leads us to fascinating places, where we meet fun new people, and photograph engaging moments and events. Take for example, hanging out with a great group of school kids on beautiful Shem Creek for their kayaking class with Coastal Expeditions! It was definitely a fascinating, fun, and an engaging shoot and these students are always involved in some sort of compelling and exciting lesson. With the Shem Creek adventure, interactions with the students, and pleasant conversations with Head of School, Jason Kreunter, we discovered that this exceptional school is one that grants each child with a fascinating, fun, and
The Valerie & Co. Photographers studio is ethusiastic and borderline crazy for Charleston pet portraits! It's so great to provide perfect images that capture the personality of the animals we've met. Bulldog, Bowie, has a plenty of personality and he is a beloved member of the Gill family! The town of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, is where they all live a nice life together in the charming neighborhood of I'On. It’s a lovely place to be, but for the Gill family, the best part of their home is probably the fact that they’re only 6 short miles from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Bowie and his family happily spend a lot of their time at the school located in the historic city of
Everybody loves a really good surprise! When the secret is out and you are the one being surprised, there’s nothing like the rush of emotions then the feelings of excitement after realizing what’s happened. On the other side of that is the thrill of being in on the secret and being a part of the surprise. Your adrenaline gets pumping and you’re on a high knowing you’ve pulled it off and helped make someone so happy. The genuine shock and pure joy on that person’s face is priceless!
Probably the biggest best surprise anyone could accomplish, is asking your love to marry you! Our studio, Valerie & Co. Photographers, recently shot Chad and Jennifer’s proposal and Jennifer just did not see it coming!
Springtime in Charleston is a picture perfect time of year. The weather starts to warm up and the outdoors are absolutely wonderful. The beautiful azaleas, a Charleston flower favorite, are in full bloom along with a lush array of botanical beauty. The fantastic sight of the budding, new, and refreshed, spring landscape, makes for a photographer’s dream. :-) So to all the guys out there trying to plan a marriage proposal to your true love, take advantage of the loveliness of the season, and include proposal photography that catches all the joy of the big moment set in the nicest scenery!
Reeder and Meg’s proposal at Middleton Place is one of our FAVORITE springtime surprise engagements. This spot, a National Historic Landmark, is home to America’s Oldest Landscaped Gardens and is open for admission to visitors.
We all know making a good first impression is really important, especially in the professional world. But making a first impression should be more than good! To quote Sonya Parker, “ Almost everyone will make a good first impression, but only a few will make a good lasting impression.” So how do you conquer the challenge of being one of the few to make a good lasting impression? That’s where headshot photos come. The #1 reason a good headshot is so important is that it will make a good lasting impression!
Not having a really good image that best represents you may give of a lack of professionalism, or may make you overall, forgettable. Don’t let those things hold you back from favorably standing out, and staying with those you’re
