We cannot stop swooning over this couple's Charleston Waterfront Park surprise proposal photos! Lindsay and Sam's story is just as sweet as the love, joy, and happiness you can see all over Lindsay's face in these pictures. :-) AND THE RING… there just aren’t words to describe how beautiful and precious it is! Read all about Sam and Lindsay, their love story, and the answers they gave to a few of our questions.
Where are you both from?
We are both from South Florida- specifically, Sam is from Cooper City and I am from South Miami.
Where did you two meet?
We were introduced by a mutual friend- my sorority sister at Boston University and Sam's good friend from high school- her name is Ashley. She used to have the biggest crush on Sam and when he showed interest in me, she figured she'd assist in matchmaking!
How long were you dating before engagement?
We went on our first date December 26th 2013; we say April 4th 2014 is our anniversary (not exactly sure why but it was a turning point in our relationship and felt right to say that was the date- it was also when Sam said i love you for the first time. Anywho- a little shy of 3 years if we go by anniversary. =)
What is your proposal story?
It was my 26th birthday so Sam had told me we were going on a horse and buggy ride around Charleston to enjoy some of the historic sites. It was our first time visiting so we had a lot to pack in for the weekend.
We boarded our carriage ride, took some photos with the horse, and were off on our tour. Taking in all the sites, the driver stopped about 20-minutes into our ride in front of a pretty fountain by the water. Sam held my hand, told me that it was our stop, and we started walking down a beautiful pathway lined with trees. There was an electric energy in the way Sam held my hand, I knew something was going on but couldn't put my finger on what. Sam began to talk about our first months of dating and when he knew I was the one and I was on cloud 9 with emotions. Next thing I knew, Sam was getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him. The answer was pretty obvious! I mean especially after the most magical proposal! =)
What kind of engagement ring do you have and is there a story to go with it?
I have a round engagement ring with a pave diamond band. The stone is actually from Sam's mother- it was her mother's ring
It's absolutely gorgeous and I love wearing it...AND cleaning it!
When is your wedding?
Our wedding will be late winter/early spring of 2018 in Miami, FL
It was an honor and a delight for Valerie & Co. Photographers to capture Lindsay and Sam’s wonderful Charleston Waterfront Park Proposal. Congratulations to the happy couple!
Everybody loves a really good surprise! When the secret is out and you are the one being surprised, there’s nothing like the rush of emotions then the feelings of excitement after realizing what’s happened. On the other side of that is the thrill of being in on the secret and being a part of the surprise. Your adrenaline gets pumping and you’re on a high knowing you’ve pulled it off and helped make someone so happy. The genuine shock and pure joy on that person’s face is priceless!
Probably the biggest best surprise anyone could accomplish, is asking your love to marry you! Our studio, Valerie & Co. Photographers, recently shot Chad and Jennifer’s proposal and Jennifer just did not see it coming!
Springtime in Charleston is a picture perfect time of year. The weather starts to warm up and the outdoors are absolutely wonderful. The beautiful azaleas, a Charleston flower favorite, are in full bloom along with a lush array of botanical beauty. The fantastic sight of the budding, new, and refreshed, spring landscape, makes for a photographer’s dream. :-) So to all the guys out there trying to plan a marriage proposal to your true love, take advantage of the loveliness of the season, and include proposal photography that catches all the joy of the big moment set in the nicest scenery!
Reeder and Meg’s proposal at Middleton Place is one of our FAVORITE springtime surprise engagements. This spot, a National Historic Landmark, is home to America’s Oldest Landscaped Gardens and is open for admission to visitors.
It’s so fun to see the different approaches to a marriage proposal. Modest and heartfelt, silly and sweet, private and romantic, over-the-top and grand; these are a few ways you could execute your proposal. No matter what though, it is always special for each couple! There’s no comparison to this thrilling once-in-a-lifetime moment! That is why when you’ve decided to pop THE big question, proposal photography should be included in your plans. The two of you will LOVE having those priceless images of such a special day and be admired for generations to come.
Charleston, South Carolina in the fall is unique. The summer heat fades into absolutely perfect weather and mother nature shows a variety of special colors. One of our favorite times of year to be a Charleston Wedding Photographer! At Hampton Park, the Spanish moss gently dangles in the trees.
Fall foliage only slightly begins to turn red, orange, and yellow, but the greens are SOOOO vibrant.
As a Charleston Wedding Photographer, there are few things more exhilarating than getting asked to photograph a proposal. I’m hidden…here they come…my heart is beating like I’m playing an extreme sport…and then it happens, the moment he pops the question and both of their lives change forever. I admit I might be tearing up behind the camera a little bit!
We couldn’t be happier for these two sweet people. God definitely knew what He was doing bringing this couple together!
When it comes to Charleston Engagement Photography, this session is definitely one of our recent favorites! Set in historic downtown Charleston, this shoot captured Chantal and Rich perfectly. Chantal, a hairstylist, and Rich, a civilian contractor in Afghanistan, have been long distance their entire relationship. We are THRILLED that they are finally together to do their Engagement Shoot, especially in the greatest city on earth! They drove all the way from Charlotte to be photographed on the stunning cobblestone Wharf streets and underneath the gorgeous Spanish Moss in Hampton Park.
