A lot of planning went into Wes's surprise proposal to Sarah, he said, " It had been a long time since we had been on a trip just the two of us, so I told Sarah that we would go on a little weekend getaway. What she didn't know was that it was going to be more than just a little weekend getaway! She had no idea that I had already spoken to her parents or that I even bought a ring! The ring is a C. Gonshor Round diamond ring with a 6 prong setting and a paved band that I bought from Diamonds Direct in Birmingham Alabama. Once it was ready, I began planning our trip and the proposal. I booked a room with French Quarter Inn, and found some amazing photographers, Valerie & Co. Photographers, that could hide and take photos as it all went down. I thought the hard part was done but little did I know... As the time got closer I thought everything was going to practically fall apart. I was planning on flying us both into a local airport but the whole week the weather just didn't look like it was going to cooperate. Finally on Thursday night the weather changed and everything started looking up. We arrived (barely, due to fog and clouds) on a Saturday morning and immediately checked into the hotel and started walking around the city just taking in the scenery as much as we could before going back to get ready for dinner. I told her that I'd wanted to get a nice dinner and to wear something really nice. She of course looked beautiful! Finally, I told her that we had some extra time before our reservations and that we should go down to The Pineapple Fountain at Charleston Waterfront Park especially since we had not been there yet. As we were walking up I immediately spotted Val and Ed, along with a HUGE crowd of people around the fountain. I was already somewhat nervous and the big crowd didn't make it any better but I knew I had to do it no matter what. Finally I pointed to something out in the water to get her to turn her head and that is when I went down to one knee. She turned around to what I hope was the biggest surprise of her life. Thankfully she said Yes!"
"Afterwards we had a delicious dinner at Burwell's Stone Fire Grill and I highly recommend it. After dinner we celebrated with drinks and went back to the hotel. I had one more surprise for her. I had set it up with the hotel to lay out chocolate covered strawberries and rose petals all over the room for her when we got back."
