"Mitch and I met during our freshman year in college at Central Michigan University in Mt Pleasant, MI. We lived just a few doors down from each other in the dorms and we have been together now just over 5 years. The proposal took place just outside of the city of Charleston in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina at Boone Hall Plantation. We were vacationing in Charleston (first time for both of us). Boone Hall Plantation was on our list of places to see, so I thought nothing of it when Mitch suggested we go; and with the weather looking iffy, it made sense we go on the day we went. Earlier that afternoon, Mitch had told me that he was going to pre-order tickets in our hotel lobby. Little did I know, he was going downstairs to call the photographer and put the ring in the car.
As we parked and started to walk the grounds, he suggested we go by the horses first. I babbled on about a horsemanship camp I went to in fourth grade, not realizing that there were photographers snapping pictures of us walking up. There was a plan. Mitch turned toward me, gave me a little kiss and pulled off my sunglasses. All of the sudden, he was on one knee! After his wonderful speech and my excited reply of "yes, of course!" the photographers congratulated us. I still had not realized they were there.
Little did I know that Mitch was not the only conspirator. He had both sets of parents, siblings, extended family, and a few close friends in on the surprise too. As we called various friends and family members, it quickly became clear that an incredible amount of time and planning went into the proposal. It was perfect!"
We're so honored and pleased we got to be a part of making their big moment extra special. AND that day was twice as nice because Hayley and Mitch were kind enough to help our studio with another couple's surprise proposal and act as our decoy photo subjuects while we secretly snapped photos of Brandon & Katie getting engaged! Check out their proposal here too. :-D
