Adam is originally from the Bronx, New York but is still a southern boy at heart. Vai is a native of James Island. Believe it or not, they actually met on tinder! When the couple tells that fact to others, the surprise on people’s faces is so amusing with Vai saying, “I guess marriage by way of tinder is so uncanny.”
Vai & Adam had a really sentimental proposal! She told us, “Adam proposed on our 2 year anniversary, at the same place we had our second date. On that date, we went for a walk at North Charleston Riverfront Park and stumbled upon this tree next to a bench that had initials carved in it. Adam pulled out his pocket knife and carved our initials in it; I think we knew then that we were going to be together long term. Adam proposed to me in the grassy field at the same park. It was a beautiful moment and I was caught off guard for sure! Of course hindsight is 20/20, so after it was all said and done, there were lots of clues that I missed leading up to that moment!”
We asked Adam about the big moment too and he said, “I had been planning the engagement for a while. The engagement ring is a carat cushion diamond with a white and rose gold band. It was purchased from Reed's Jewelers. Vai always said she wanted a rose gold accent in the ring, so I went to the jeweler and we just kind of ran with it. Earlier on, when we started talking about marriage, she’d told me that she wanted a ‘cheesy’ proposal, like the old ring in the cupcake trope or proposing on the kiss cam at a basketball game. I knew proposing at that same park where we had our date, close to that bench where the tree used to be, would be sentimental and cheesy enough for her!”
